Going to be posting an opera review later this week, but for now, I want to just spend a little time crowing. It goes against my nature to share something good that happened to me like this. Usually I perform some impressive mental gymnastics to downplay it, what our household calls “Joel-ing it up,” but Becky assigned me this post so I gots to do what I gots to do.
I’ve been working in the AV industry (audio visual industry, not adult video!) for nearly 4 years now. When I started, I didn’t know the first thing about it, but thanks to the vibrant online community, I learned quickly. More importantly, it became clear that this was a supportive group of people ready to throw out advice, opinions, jokes and more.
In addition to getting up to speed on the ins and outs of AV life – what’s important, what’s a drag, so on and so forth. I love to learn, so it’s like Joel catnip. Last summer, I got to meet many of the people I tweet with regularly when I attended the big industry tradeshow, InfoComm. It was a blast to find out that all these people are as awesome in real life as they are online.
Anyway, today an industry publication put together a list of 103 must follow tweeters.
I looked through it to see if I was missing anyone I should be following while secretly wishing I was on it. There weren’t many that I hadn’t already looked up, to be honest. It was a solid list. Then, on the last page, there I was, in the “Best of the Rest” category! Just a few away from Sinbad!
So I’m totally stoked to be on this list among so many awesome people I’ve come to admire. It’s hard for me to toot my own horn, but here I am, tooting.
