In our ongoing mission to point out the increasingly ridiculous role recruiters play in our current job market, we offer the following email exchange from a local agency that connects creatives with companies that need temporary or contract work. The initial email from the company was not solicited in any way by Becky. I’ve worked for them in a teeny tiny capacity. Becky tried working with them last spring but they were pretty useless, and she last connected with them in June before her current job.
This came at 5 p.m. Wednesday. Becky sent a response at 7:50 a.m. the next morning.
Less than an hour later came this reply
So. To recap.
“Hi, are you available for work?”
“Well, I can’t help you right now, but MAYBE I’ll be in touch.”
Is it possible to be much more douchey? We have planned more articles describing just how horrendous recruiters are at being human beings deserving of respect and dignity, but this was so fresh, we had to share it immediately.
